Mission Statement

The mission of Emergency Medical Locators for Adoptees is to provide search services free of charge to all members of the adoption triad who seek out such services in times of acute medical need. EMLA also lobbies to change adoption laws throughout the United States, guided by the belief that no adoptee should be deprived of accurate and complete information pertaining to their family medical histories.

Core Ethic

EMLA's core ethic mandates that we provide members of the Adoption Triad with an alternative to paid genealogical searches during times of life-threatening medical crisis. Using tools made available to us through public, private, charitable, and member contributions, EMLA conducts detailed genealogical research, while at the same time, maintaining the privacy of the birth families involved. EMLA simultaneously solicits commonsense changes to laws that deprive Adoption Triad members of information that is readily accessible to non-adoption-related families
